AGGRESSION

Does your dog bark, lunge, and growl when on a leash? when it sees other dogs? or maybe if people approach you? Aggression can be a very minor problem to a very major problem. It's also something that is oftentimes treated improperly in the beginning, thus resulting in an even greater problem. Dog-Dog aggression can only be properly rehabilitated with the use of non-reactive dogs, and usually more than a few of them(which we have)! Determining the difference between an aggressive dog and a reactive dog is also something that most pet owners need assistance with. We specialize in handling aggression & reactivity including dog-dog aggression, people aggression, leash aggression, and resource guarding. There is never a one-size fits all approach so each situation needs to be assessed to determine how we move forward. Not all aggression can be "fixed" either, there are never any guarantees. It is a very long term commitment to overcome this particular behavioral issue. Many dogs start out with 4-8 weeks of private weekly classes then moving onto a small group class, then a large group class, and some we even suggest you contact your vet to discuss medication options. This process can take anywhere between 2-10 months. If you find yourself having a pet like this, contact us to discuss the the concerns and we'll work with you to help you identify your dogs particular triggers, formulate a plan, and assist in getting the aggression to a manageable level. Please understand that we have a busy schedule and are one of the most credentialed trainers in West Virginia, so class times can be limited. We do our best to accommodate requests, but there may be a waiting period to get into a private class depending on how full the schedule is at that particular time of year and your availability.
